I figured that God was going to be a popular topic on this blog. Especially because I have a personal relationship with Him and He has been with me every step of the way through my life. He has been with me during both the good times and the bad times.
Have you ever blamed God for things that went wrong in your life? Do you know someone who blames God for things in their lives. It is not God’s fault. God provided for us to have “free will”. We have the ability to make our own decisions and live according to the way we want to live. Our own personal decisions have consequences. We are responsible for the consequences of our own decisions. Cancer exists, death exists, challenges of life exist. It is how we handle these challenges of life that exists.
God never said life would be easy. Life is not easy and we are always thrown curve balls. My questions are “Why not you?” or “Why not me?” What makes people feel they are so special that nothing bad should ever happen to them? Everyone has different life experiences and challenges to face as they live life. It is how you live through them that matters. Do you live through them with God? Or do you live through them without God? It is the challenges of our lives that builds character and makes us stronger. Our trials and life experiences enables us to share the things that we have experienced with others. It helps us to have empathy and it also helps us to share how God has seen us through. When times are tough that seems to be the time that we rely on God or seek Him. When things are all rosy and fine, we do not look to God because it seems as if we do not need Him. No matter what is going on in our lives we all need the Lord. (There is a good song “People Need the Lord.” by Steven Green)
One of my kids said to me once. Why would I want to believe in God when I have watched you go through everything throughout your life? My response was that I would rather go through life with God than without Him. How do you think I made it through it all. It was only by the grace of God. He has been my strength and my guide.
Sometimes it is hard to explain your personal relationship with God to others who have no idea what it is like. When you have surrendered your life to Christ and asked for forgiveness God will always be there for you. He helps me with the smallest things and He sees me through the big things. If God knows the number of hairs on your head, that should tell you how much He cares about the smallest of things that are happening in your life. I can pray and ask God to help me find a file in my office. Then I will find it. I chuckle because that is how good God is. A lot of times we go to God after we have exhausted all of our own human behaviors to try to fix things or manage our life ourselves, instead of going to God first. If we went to God first, it might have saved us a whole lot of headaches and/or heartaches.
Often times you hear people say “Well, all we can do is pray.” In reality, it is the BEST thing we can do. (Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33)
Prayer is our open communication with God. You can pray anywhere, anyway. You do not need to be in church and/or on your knees. You can talk to God as if he was sitting next to you. I talk to God a lot and I pray for His wisdom and guidance in my life. I love to pray and talk to God. You can take EVERYTHING TO THE LORD IN PRAYER!! No exceptions. God loves you as He loves me. God is no respecter of persons. What He has done for me, He will do for you.
Seek Him and find out for yourselves. What do you have to lose?
